My name is Cameron Dhaliwal, I’m from Derbyshire, United Kingdom. Ever since I can remember, I wanted to write and create. Literature, film and sports serve as a key part of my dreams and aspirations.
I spent a lot of my part-time jobs working behind bars and nightclubs, a crazy, chaotic yet vibrant experience. I always paying attention to everything ever since. While I did this, I wrote for my local newspapers and for various sports blogs across the globe. This bought me in fully to the world of writing.
During my second-year of university, I realised my future could be in PR and communications. I searched far and wide for a chance. That took me to PokerStars and living on the Isle of Man for a year, a brilliant time away from the hectic lifestyle I had previously. There is a lot I miss but nothing tops the sea view every morning.
After graduating with a First-Class honour in Journalism, I joined The SEO Works, a digital marketing agency. I was their first Digital PR executive and crucial to the start the service – it was a tough challenge but one I overcame. I had to dig deep to learn everything I could about the skill, finding how I could be the best I could be. I thrive in the creativity of the role, coming up with ideas for campaigns for clients of all different niches and industries.
Since then, I’ve seen my work published in the well-known titles such as The Express, MSN, The Liverpool Echo, MyLondon, The Manchester Evening Times and more.
Aside from my PR and writing work, I love going to the gym and playing football competitively. You can often find me reading in a coffee shop, in a gym or out on a football pitch.
I love different cuisines and have plans of travelling to many places – Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown opened my eyes to different places in a way nothing else could. I love cinema and literature, working my way through titles like Brett Easton Ellis’ American Psycho or Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse-Five. Writers like Hunter S Thompson, Tom Wolfe and Jack Kerouac opened my eyes forever.
I play poker for a side living, having made money learning from former pros and studying the game meticulously. I learnt the game theory optimal (GTO) approach and began winning. I qualified for a $5,200 buy-in high roller tournament, playing against some of the best tournament poker players in the world (I got a big bluff through against one, it was a very cool moment).
My favourite drink tips from an Old Fashioned to a Negroni and my favourite music is 80s New Wave. I love the idea of sharp tailoring and classic menswear, I always own a pair of Brogues in my possession.
